Boats at New Quay

Rather a poor attempt at some of the boats in New Quay harbour. I didn't realise how tricky modern boats could be to draw!

New Quay

Beachfront shops at New Quay. As I was sketching this I kept hearing people say that they had spotted a dolphin. Every time I looked up it had disappeared. The others grew tired of waiting for me and went off in search of an ice-cream.

Llanchaeron Quintet

We returned to Llanchaeron to have our lunch before hiring bikes. As luck would have it, there was a quintet playing in the garden so we had accompaniment as we ate! Scorching hit lunchtime - felt sorry for the players who were wearing black sorts and trousers. Went on to have a great cycle ride along a disused railway line into Aberaeron.

Coastline at Mwnt

Further south along the coast, we visited the sheltered cove of Mwnt. Nice warm day but clouds ever present. Lovely, small, sheltered beach. Shortly after doing this we saw dolphins.

Aberystwyth Pier

The day started off rather rainy but by the time we got to Aberystwyth the sun came out. We had a picnic by the castle and ice cream and then sat on the beach as the boys went crabbing.

Llanchaeron House

We watched a fascinating demo of sheepdog skills. Then we stopped for lunch in the grounds of the house - a very warm, pleasant time.

Breakwater at Aberaeron

We all met in the eve. Jacqui, Gareth and the boys had fish & chips for tea. All boys went for a swim - it looked very cold in the grey sea! A shower came along and we had to huddle in a shelter.

Offa's Dyke Visitor Centre

Stopped off for our lunch on the way to our Aberaeron holiday cottage. Just 10 minutes to do this before we packed up and carried on after lunch. I had left my glasses in the car so I had to do this without seeing very clearly.

Model Cottages

First day of the holidays! Dropped car off at garage for service and m o t and thought about these houses .When I picked the car up at the end of the day I went a little early, stood at the side of the lane and sketched the back of these old houses. As I had ran out of time, I had to memorize the colours and do the painting at home. The only problem was that I couldn't accurately put in shadows or colours.
